The basic starting point of this work is thevery existence of the Tresnjevka Sports Hall for many years as an important social institution of the City of Zagreb for sports and recreation of citizens. In this manner, I wanted to present its foundation, construction, functioning and analyze the perspectives of the development of the Tresnjevka Sports Center. The research method used was a case study. It is a qualitative method that examines a problem and seeks to record all relevant information about the phenomenon, in this case a gym within the Sports Center, and on that basis point out the possibilities for its further development. Case used for the analysis is the Sports Hall of the Tresnjevka Sports Center. An attempt will be made to look into at the appearance of the very idea of building this institution; all the processes of its development and functioning, life and work to this day. In doing so, we would like to point out social work and constant trends and the causes of the stagnation of public role of the Hall in the City of Zagreb. As one of the main causes of this stagnation, and in general decline of the Sports Center development (called the Sports Center refers to the Tresnjevka Sports Hall, hereinafter referred to as the SH Tresnjevka), there is certainly a lack of modern content and program offerings, an insufficiently fast and inadequate response to modern ways of life and maladaptive business management in the world of sports and cultural life; then an insufficiently wide assortment of technical capabilities and innovations in the work as well as harmonization of the timeframes for the daily indoor activities. Particular emphasis should be placed on the lack of social and economic aspects of the functioning of such institutions, given the relative disinterest of new and potential tenants in the provision of program services to citizens. One of the key difficulties in the modern functioning of SH Tresnjevka is certainly a kind of "dependence" on the City of Zagreb, which makes many decisions in the life of SH Tresnjevka without some broad consultation with citizens, experts and other interested associates. The aim of the paper is to emphasize the need of revitalizationof the activities and business of SH Tresnjevka in correspondence with contemporary changes in the life of citizens and their real needs for those leisure activities that stem from the styles and culture of the life of the modern polis. The paper shows what facilities and ways of work could accelerate the re-raising of the SH Tresnjevka institution to the level of those potentials and offers in order to make this institution again an attractive sports facility of the City of Zagreb.
