The metal industry in the Republic of Croatia is in growing trend after the global financial crisis. However, companies in growth phase, such as Laser Inženjering d.o.o. Zagreb, encounter the challenge of uneven development of invested revenue sources and geographical area of activity. Therefore, the basic objective of the research based on the situational analysis is to identify the strategies of the company Laser Inženjering development. In order to achieve the basic objective of the research, relevant data and information have been collected from secondary (existing scientific and professional literature, legal regulations and documentation of the selected company) and primary (semi-structured interviews) sources. Defined research questions leaded on the strategic analysis of Laser Inženjering. The research results show that the external environment has many disadvantageous for the development of entrepreneurship in the Republic of Croatia. Political instability, negative demographic trends and migration of young people abroad are obvious signs that labor prices will grow. Also, although there are some opportunities in the metal industry (increased demand for products and services), threats are manifested in international competition and the lack of quality and professional workforce. Finally, for the sustainable growth and development of Laser Engineering, a developmental strategy of combined expansion (production and market) is necessary in cooperation with strategic partners in the foreign market. Practical application of the research results will enable other companies in the metal industry the underlying assumptions of strategic sustainable growth and development.
